More likely to die early? More like to vote for Trump.
Are you white, middle-aged, and knocking on death’s door? Then you probably voted for Trump, according to this county-level analysis of Super Tuesday results by the Washington Post’s Wonkblog. Only 2 are shown here. Click through to see all 9 of the states analyzed.
What’s buried below the voting analysis, though, is possibly more interesting. This group is not an outlier from a demographic perspective. They’re big and they’re growing, to the point that the overall white population is seeing an increase in mortality of the last 15+ years, whereas blacks and hispanics are seeing overall improvements in mortality rate. What’s going on? There are theories but no real answers.
